Behind the picture
A school full of small moments
A teacher watches as a pupil wipes a tear. Around them, classmates lean toward their books and exchange little glances. This study gives each of the ten people a quiet rhythm of their own.
Each person was separated from the museum scan. Image generation completed clothing hidden behind other pupils and the desk, then the original visible paint was placed back over those reconstructions. The empty paper and partly hidden books were completed too.
Short videos provide the gestures. A moving outline cuts each figure out of every frame, giving it a transparent background and a shadow of its own. The figures now sit on one gently receding floor. Their shadows meet the floor at their feet, while six separate book cutouts rest beside them. A quiet timber-and-paper classroom surrounds the scene.
